PATRIOTIC POEMS
BY YOUNG AMERICANS

AMERICAN FLAG
It seems like the stars
from the night fade away
into the flag's side.
The blue comes from
the coat of a man
who believes in the flag.
The red stains from blood
jointed together
in our body.
The white appears from clouds
that help us breathe
through things that hurt us,
that know the flag is ours
because it presents us through
colors that our ancestors won.

UNITY IN AMERICA
A rapper rages about picturing his daughter
In a condition far worse than slaughter.
But rather in a plane headed to the towers,
Right before they tumble like wilting flowers.
September 11th was a day filled with tears,
We lost family, friends, and fellow peers.
Terrorism against treaties, peace against war,
What does all this have to happen for?
Sadly enough that answer may never be known,
But what must come out of it is clearly shown.
We must unite, and we must remain that way,
Come together, and share love day after day.
There's nothing we can do to change the past,
The tragedies seem to happen way too fast.
Now it's time to show them what America's got,
To receive our freedom, yes indeed, we fought.
But now we should put our fists down by our sides,
Open our hearts, but remember to keep our pride.
We all need to come together as one,
And show terrorists just how it's done.
If that's what it's worth, soldiers will have to travel far.
But the United States of America - that's who we are.
