Happy has lived a very eventful life. She produced 4 litters with a total of 12 puppies. At least 5 of these puppies predeceased her.
Although not a champion herself, one of her sons, proved to be #5 Cavalier in Canada when he was 18 months old. I still have him. His 11th birthday was June 13th. She obtained her CD 'Companion Dog'obedience title going High in Trial at the 1994 Canadian Cavalier Specialty. She trained and competed at the CDX level. Unfortunately, she lost her hearing and didn't finish this title. She also played at agility. Not only was she an excellent mother to her own puppies, butshe also willingly took over the care of two Labrador puppies, whose mother was in distress and went to another litter of Cavaliers, after raising her own babies and fed them for three weeks because their mother was too ill to look after them. The owner was so grateful, she named the entire litter after 'Happy'. She spent several years on the St. John Ambulance Pet Therapy team visiting seniors at the local Chronic Hospital. Happy and I have had our share of pain and suffering. Her last born was a singleton that failed to thrive and died at two weeks old. She was devastated. Happy’s trademark has always been her saucy wiggle and constantly wagging tail. It has been frequently remarked that she was well named. We loved her dearly. I know that her tail is wagging again at the Rainbow Bridge as she greets her friends who have gone before her. Jean Kingston Waawaaskone Reg'd. Cavaliers |
